French Lover

Nilanjana, a young Bengali woman from Kolkata, finds herself trapped in a gilded cage after marrying Kishanlal, a restaurant owner, and moving to Paris with him. Confined to a luxurious but isolating apartment where she serves as little more than housekeeper and object of desire, she struggles against creeping boredom and depression. Desperate for escape and meaning, Nilanjana begins searching for a way out of her suffocating marriage.
